Hunter Creek Bait pro staffer, Steve "Cheeseburger" Roberts, finished 12th at the 2006 CITGO Bassmaster Open at Smith Mtn. Lake, Va. held Oct. 26 - 28. Day 1 proved very tough for him, as he blanked that day. He made a beautiful comeback on day 2 with a limit of 5 fish weighing 17lbs.,15oz. He also had big fish for that day with a 7 pounder. This bag was the biggest five fish limit of the entire tournament. Day 3 proved alittle tough once again with a bag of 2 fish tipping the scales at 5lbs., 1oz. 12th place was worth $3160 plus $1000 for his 2nd day big fish. Two other top 50 boaters fished the "Cheeseburger" jig. John Cole of Buena Vista, Va. tied with Roberts at 12th place and Jon Moss of Danville, Va. finished 36th. Moss had a hog on the jig that broke off for him. He figured it had to be at least 7 or 8 lbs. if not bigger. That would have been a big hit at the weigh-in for sure!

The "Cheeseburger Jig"
I have been fishing a jig for some 20 odd years or so. I had never been able to find the exact color jig that would catch fish in just about any situation. In the spring of 2004 I decided to design some jigs of my own. Then lightening struck; I came up with a special color pattern which in my honest opinion is the best jig ever created. I call it the "Cheeseburger Jig". The color is a special blend of green pumpkin and several other colors. This jig works in just about any color of water night or day. It will catch fish when the sun is high or in low light conditions. One of my best friends told me that I was making a big mistake by putting this jig on the market. His name is Shayne Berlo and he came very close to winning the BFL All American with one of my jigs two years ago. His honest feeling is that the jig is incredible and that it will hurt my chances of winning if other fishermen have it in their tackle boxes. This jig is now available from Hunter Creek Bait Company. We are offering it with three other colors which I have caught literally hundreds of bass on. In the past two years I have won two of the qualifying events for the Virginia State Team on this jig. This jig works anywhere you fish it. I used it exclusively in

to win the Mid-Atlantic Divisional at
Lake

. This jig out paced the field by eight pounds plus and was a perfect replica of the crayfish in that lake. The colors of the jig was identical to that of the crayfish. The other three colors are also proven bass catching baits. I am in the process of writing a booklet on Jig Fishing which will be published in a few weeks.
